Instow celebrated in it’s own modest way the Allied Victory in Europe Day 2020.
75 years ago the Allies declared this day to be the last day of World War two. It was 75 years ago last year that many craft departed from the Estuary that Instow sits upon for the Invasion of Europe that would lead to the defeat of the Germans and the free of Europe after nearly 6 years of war. The war in the far East would continue for another 3 months before the victory over the Japanese on the 15th of August 1945 which should be remembered just as much as VE day.
Here are just a few of the pictures of how the people of Instow decorated their houses to celebrate this great but in some ways sad day as those that are no longer with us appear in our memories.
